Despite living in a time when Americans are relying heavily on the media for information — about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, various statewide and national elections, and information about school and business re-openings — the public remains largely distrustful of the mass media. Other research shows that who you identify with politically might influence how you view news.

In a polarized environment, how do political journalists report with transparency and communicate with readers? Can we bridge the gap between the media and the public at large?
